Theo Chambers

Theo Chambers was born in Panama of Jamaican heritage.  He migrated to the United States of America in 1966 but subsequently decided to make Jamaica his home in 1998. 

He was one of 36 Legal Specialists, a non-commissioned officer (with a Top Secret Cryptographic Clearance) who was selected by the United States Air Force (Pentagon) to travel to Europe to help establish the Legal Defense Council at RAF Alconbury, England   He received an Honorable Discharge on May 20, 1975.

After leaving the United States Air Force, Theo Chambers worked as a File Clerk for one of the most prestigious law firms in New York, Cravath, Swaine & Moore.  He later earned his Para-Legal degree in October 1976 from New York University with a specialty in Wills, Trusts & Estates. 

Theo is a graduate of the Institute of Applied Science in Civil & Criminal Investigation and Identification, which included fingerprint analysis, ballistic analysis, handwriting analysis, and other subject areas.

Entrepreneurial Ventures:

  • Atlantic City, New Jersey - Co-Founder and Past Chairman of the Independent Meeting Planners Association, an organization with members that included meeting and event planners from fortune 500 corporations. 

Organized workshops and seminars for members that focused on rooms and venue negotiation and cancellation clauses within hotel and venue agreements.  Members were exposed to the hiring and management of entertainers and its legal implications. 

Other workshops focused on “How To Develop an Effective Incentive Program,” “The Art Of Closing The Deal” and “How to Negotiate with Wholesalers and Airlines For A Better Rate”.

  • Created U.R.A. Star, an events management company that provided special events services to many Casinos in Atlantic City.  His clientele roster included the following representative sample: Caesars, Trump Castle, Trump Plaza, Trop World, The Showboat, Park Place, and Resort International.

1987 Excalibur Award for Entrepreneur of the Year in 1987 (The Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce)

2003 Excellence in Broadcast Journalism, for the program entitled: “Jamaica’s One Love Message and its effect on World Tourism.” Produced for Power 106 FM Radio. Awarded by Counterpart International at CMEx III in St. Lucia, June 2003

2010 Bureau of Standards Appreciation Award for contribution to Standards Development

2011 Environmental Health Foundation Award for Excellence In Recognition of Outstanding Contributions to the Promotion of Wellness and Healthy Lifestyles.

2013 Received Flame Keepers in Media Online Publication: Positive Tourism.com.
Theo and Sharon Chambers, publishers (Jamaica) - The award is for websites and online media that have done much toward promoting black travel, and black cultural and heritage tourism.

  • Sharon and Theo Chambers principals of Lets Do It In The Caribbean, established the first Caribbean Chapter of the Day Spa Association ( Caribbean Resort & Day Spa Association) on February 7, 2005, in an official launch ceremony, sponsored by The Ministry of Tourism and its Agencies.

  • Co-founder, Co-Producer, and Convener, Caribbean Health Tourism & Spa Conference, a wellness professional trade show, expo & business forum founded in 2005.
  • Co-founder, Co-Producer and Convenor of “Caribbean Health Tourism & Spa Symposium Annual Wellness Trade Show, Jamaica. Inaugural event February 7 & 8, 2005.

Positive Tourism received a mandate from former Minister of Tourism, Aloun Assamba, in 2006, to pioneer the way in establishing health tourism as a mainstay in Jamaica and to help brand the Caribbean as the Health Tourism Mecca.

  • Facilitated & Produced Workshops on Internet Marketing for the Health & Wellness Sector at Caribbean Health Tourism Spa & Wellness Conference,
     from 2005 - 2010.
  • Co-founder of the Spa Standards Development Steering Committee.  Contributed in writing the draft Spa Standards in association with the Tourism Product Development Company and the Bureau of Standards. The final draft to be submitted to CROSQ for validation. This is an initiative of the Caribbean Resort & day Spa Association spawned out of the Inter-American Development Bank Wellness Conference held May 2006 in Washington D.C.

  • Co-producer and Keynote Speaker at the Caribbean Health Tourism & Spa Symposium in collaboration with the Carib Export New Sectors Division Conference (Health & Wellness Road Map Initiative,) held May 15-17, 2007 at the Kingston Hilton Hotel, Jamaica, W.I.
  • Co-Produced Caribbean Health Tourism & Spa Symposium in Kingston, Jamaica featuring Keynote Dr Constantine Constantinides, Chief Executive of healthCare cybernetics, Athens, Greece, a Think and Do Tank whose Health Tourism Enterprise Practice provides knowledge, analysis, and strategic thought on Health Tourism Development at the macro-economic level to destinations worldwide. The conference was held in association with the Hilton Kingston Hotel, May 2007.
  • Co-producer Caribbean VeggieFest, an annual vegan festival 2007-2010 held in Jamaica. Keynote Speaker at the Caribbean VeggieFest and Health Tourism & Spa Conference, The State of Health Tourism in the Caribbean, produced by Positive Tourism Network, March 15-16, 2008.

  • Co-producer and Speaker at Wellness Tourism: A Global Phenomenon with a Caribbean Flavor Conference, held in partnership with the Hilton Kingston Jamaica Hotel, June 12-14, 2009.

  • Produced the Caribbean and Latin America VeggieFest, Spa & Wellness Conference, in association with Latin Caribe Wellness Network (Endorsed by Ministry of Health Nutrition Dept. and Panama Wellness sector) April 10 – 11, 2010 in the Clubhouse of Parque Omar, Panama City, Republic of Panama. 
  • Produced and facilitated Let’s Do It In the Caribbean Workshop Series entitled: “Everything you Wanted to Know About Internet & Social Media Marketing, but did Not Know Who to Ask!” in Negril, Hanover, Montego Bay (August 21 -23, 2012) and Mandeville (Sept. 13, 2012)

  • Guest Presenter at Ananse Sound Splash 2012, a Story Telling Conference & Festival on storytelling with discussions, presentations, and performances from international participants, this festival is an official Jamaica 50 event. The focus is on the oral tradition and is being produced by Ntukuma Productions which is headed by Amina Blackwood-Meeks. Theo presents his book The Sage Within as part of the Conference – November 23, 2014.
